How it works
Best for: everyday cars, company drivers and anyone who has been shunted and had nothing to show for it.
A dashcam is only worth having if it is recording when you need it, which is why we hardwire every one we fit rather than leaving it on the 12V socket. Hardwiring is also what enables parking mode, so the car is covered while it sits on a car park.
The Spark records the road ahead and behind in Full HD. That is enough to read a plate at sensible distances in daylight, and it is the level most not-at-fault claims are settled on. If the car lives on an unlit street, look at the Pro or the Elite instead.
Dual parking mode is the part worth understanding: both cameras keep watching, not just the front, so somebody reversing into you in a car park is recorded from the end it actually happened at.
Winter mode matters more than the specification sheet suggests. It adjusts the voltage cut-off for cold weather, so a frosty week does not leave you with a flat battery or a camera that quietly stopped in December.
Which cars? Any car or van with a 12V fusebox we can reach — which is effectively all of them.
Warranty: Three years on the cameras from Road Angel, plus 12 months on our installation.
The detail
The things people ring up to ask before booking — how the app behaves, what the subscription actually costs you, and what paperwork you end up with.
Do it the same day. Every dashcam loop records, which means it writes over the oldest footage once the card is full — on a busy card that can be a day or two. An impact locks the relevant clip so the loop cannot touch it, but only if the camera detected the impact. A near miss, or somebody keying the car, may not trigger anything.
So the habit worth getting into is simple: if something happens, pull over when it is safe and save the clip, or take the card out when you get home. On the cameras with an app you can pull the file straight to your phone.
Insurers now ask for footage routinely and most accept a file straight from the card. Keep the original rather than a re-encoded copy from a phone or a messaging app — the timestamp and the file data are part of what makes it useful.
We hardwire every camera we fit. A camera on the 12V socket stops recording the moment the ignition goes off, which rules out the entire time the car is parked — and that is when most of the damage nobody owns up to happens.
Hardwiring is also what enables parking mode. Road Angel's kits use a variable voltage cut-off that stops recording before the battery drops below what the car needs to start, and we set that threshold with you rather than leaving it on a factory default.
Winter mode is worth knowing about if the car lives outside. Cold changes how a battery behaves, and it adjusts the cut-off to suit — the difference between a camera that watches all winter and one that quietly stopped in December.
This is the only specification that matters, and the marketing is unhelpful about it. A camera that films a collision but cannot resolve the other car's plate has given you a video, not evidence.
Full HD is fine in daylight at ordinary distances, which covers most claims. 2K is the step where plates stay readable in poorer light. 4K with a Starvis 2 sensor is what you want if you drive at night, park on an unlit street, or have already had a claim turn on unclear footage.
On the rear camera, Full HD is plenty, because anything behind you is closer. Spending the resolution at the front is the right way round.
Behind the mirror, high on the screen, out of your eyeline and out of the wiper's dead zone. Placement around rain sensors, heated screens and factory camera clusters is part of the job and we work round them — nothing is drilled. The Vision 3 is the exception: it sits on the mirror itself, so there is nothing on the glass at all.
Cables run behind the trim and down the A-pillar, so there is nothing crossing your view and nothing dangling to fail an MOT advisory. On a rear camera we route through the tailgate loom the way the factory would.
Allow two to three hours at your home or workplace. Before we leave, the card is formatted and tested and we show you footage from your own car so you know what you are actually getting.
What customers say
Had my Mercedes C180 in with Kaine to replace both front suspension springs. I knew that this was not an easy job on this car. Dropped the car off in the morning and it was ready that afternoon. He did an amazing job and I'll be recommending him to friends and family for any work that they need doing. 5 stars!
Had my Audi S3 in for a complete overhaul — Kaine supplied and fitted all the parts, including cam belt, water pump, a full service and a balance shaft delete. He also noticed one of my rear callipers was sticking, so recommended and fitted a new calliper and new rear discs and pads too. A 5 star service — I'll only use Kaine from now on for any mechanical work.
Exceptional experience with Kaine. Came out to me, took my car and fixed it all within two hours. Very impressed and will definitely call him if needed again. Great price.
Fast mobile installation
Send us the registration. We confirm exactly what fits your vehicle and what it costs fitted, before you commit to anything.
We call to arrange a time and place that suits you — at home, or at work while the car sits in the car park.
Your installer arrives fully equipped and works at the vehicle. Most fits take two to four hours, with nothing cut, drilled or left on show.
We set it up with you and stay until you can use it confidently. Your manufacturer warranty is unaffected and it can be removed later without a trace.
An immobiliser so the car cannot be taken, and a front-and-rear dashcam so a young driver is never the one without evidence. Fitted in one visit, which is where the saving comes from — the hardware is the same either way.
Works well with
Each of these covers something the others cannot. Fitted in the same visit they cost less than booking them separately — ask and we will price the combination.

Immobilisers
The same protection as the Ghost, and the only one here you can manage yourself — change your own PIN or set valet mode from your phone.

Vehicle Trackers
The affordable way in. Knows where your car is at all times and tells your phone the moment it moves without you.
Questions
For a daylight collision at ordinary distances, yes — and it is what most claims are settled on. Where it runs out is at night and at distance, which is exactly when you are trying to read a plate under streetlights. If that is your worry, the Halo Pro or the Elite are the honest answer rather than this one.
No. The hardwire kit has a variable voltage cut-off that stops recording before the battery drops too far to start the car, and winter mode adjusts that threshold when it is cold. We set it with you when we fit it.
Hardwired, always. A plugged-in camera stops recording the moment the ignition goes off, which rules out parking mode entirely, and the cable across the dashboard is an MOT advisory waiting to happen.
Because we would rather know one range properly than sell six badly. Road Angel are a UK brand, the cameras carry a three year warranty, their hardwiring kits handle cold weather sensibly, and we can get support and parts quickly when something needs sorting. If you have already bought a camera from another brand, we will still fit it for you.
Yes. Dashcams are fitted at your home or workplace anywhere around Milton Keynes, and most take two to three hours.
