How it works
Best for: the highest-value vehicles, and anyone who wants recovery and immobilisation from a single system rather than two.
This is a full Thatcham S5 system first — live tracking, driver recognition tags, and a manned control room that acts if the car moves without one. Everything the S5-VTS does, it does.
The deadlock is what separates it, and it is more than the after-the-fact measure people assume. It arms itself automatically every time the engine is switched off. To start the car again, a recognised driver tag has to be present. That is the same principle as an immobiliser: somebody holding your key, a cloned key, or a laptop on the OBD port still cannot start the engine.
If the car is taken anyway — with the tags, on a flatbed, however — you or the control room can send a remote deadlock command from the app or the web portal. That blocks the engine from starting even when a valid tag is present, which is the situation an ordinary immobiliser has no answer to.
The control room behind it is approved by the National Security Inspectorate and staffed around the clock. It sees more than movement: tamper alerts, the battery being disconnected, and GPS or GSM jamming all raise a flag, which matters because jamming is exactly what an organised thief tries first.
The app is the part you will actually use — live location, thirty days of journey history, driver behaviour, geo-fences, motion and low battery alerts, and garage, service and privacy modes for when the car is being worked on or lent out.
Which cars? Range Rover, Defender, high-spec performance cars, vans and motorhomes. The system carries manufacturer approval from Audi, VW, VW Commercial, SEAT, Skoda and Yamaha.
Warranty: Two years on the unit and tags, with monitoring billed separately.
The detail
The things people ring up to ask before booking — how the app behaves, what the subscription actually costs you, and what paperwork you end up with.
The deadlock arms itself every time you switch the engine off. You do not set it, and there is nothing to remember. To start the car again a recognised driver tag has to be within range — keep it on you and the car behaves exactly as it always did.
Two tags come as standard, which covers most households. More can be added if several people drive the vehicle. Keep the spare somewhere sensible at home rather than in the glovebox: a tag in the car is not a spare, it is a key left in the door.
If you forget your tag, the control room rings you before anything else happens. It is an inconvenience rather than a drama, and it is the same mechanism that makes the car worthless to somebody who has your keys but not your tag.
Movement without a recognised tag is treated as unauthorised immediately. You get an alert, and the Secure Operating Centre — approved by the National Security Inspectorate and staffed 24/7/365 — sees the same alert at the same moment.
They try to reach you first. If they cannot, or you confirm the vehicle is being taken, they work directly with the police, giving them a live position rather than a description and a registration.
Tamper alerts, the battery being disconnected, and GPS or GSM jamming all raise flags of their own. That last one matters more than people expect: jamming is what an organised thief tries first, so the attempt to hide the vehicle is itself what raises the alarm.
You can also send a remote engine block from the app or web portal, which prevents the vehicle starting even with a valid tag present — the one situation an ordinary immobiliser has no answer to.
Every tracker here is driven from one app, on iOS and Android. You get live location, thirty days of journey history, geo-fences that tell you when the vehicle leaves an area you have drawn, motion and low-battery alerts, and driver behaviour reporting if you want it.
There are also garage, service and privacy modes. Garage and service modes stop the system treating a legitimate visit to a workshop as a theft. Privacy mode stops journeys being logged at all, which matters if the vehicle is shared or used personally as well as for work.
We set the app up on your phone before we leave, and we would rather spend twenty minutes showing you the alerts than have you find out how they work on the worst night of the year.
A tracker has to stay connected to report anything, and on the monitored systems there are people staffing a control room around the clock. That is what the subscription pays for.
On the Meta Trak systems the first subscription term is included with the installation, so there is nothing further to pay on the day. What you pay is the renewal when that term ends: currently £189.95 a year or £499.95 for three years on the S5 systems, and £119.95 a year or £329.95 for three years on S7. The Shield is self-monitored and cheaper to run at £75.95 a year.
We will remind you before a renewal falls due. If you let it lapse, the hardware stays in the vehicle but stops reporting, and any insurance certificate based on it would no longer stand.
Once the system is installed and registered, you get a certificate in your name confirming the make, model and Thatcham category fitted. That is the document an underwriter asks for, and it is usually what they are waiting on before they will renew or offer cover on a higher-value vehicle.
Send us your insurer's wording before you book. If what they have asked for does not match what you are about to buy, we would rather tell you that up front than issue a certificate that does not satisfy them.
The Shield is the exception: it is self-monitored, carries no Thatcham approval, and no certificate comes with it.
We come to your home or workplace anywhere around Milton Keynes. Allow two to three hours for an S7 and three to four for an S5 with driver tags. You keep the vehicle throughout — there is no need to be without it for a day.
The unit is hidden on the vehicle's existing wiring. Nothing is cut and nothing is left on show, which is the point: a tracker somebody can find is a tracker somebody can remove.
Before we go, the app is on your phone, the tags are paired, the alerts are set to suit where you park, and you have had a proper run through. Afterwards we are on the end of the phone — for a renewal question, a new phone, or moving the unit to your next vehicle.
Monitoring
A tracker needs a live connection to report anything, and that is what the subscription pays for. It is the cost people get caught out by elsewhere, so we quote it separately and in writing before you commit — never rolled into a headline price.

What customers say
Had my Mercedes C180 in with Kaine to replace both front suspension springs. I knew that this was not an easy job on this car. Dropped the car off in the morning and it was ready that afternoon. He did an amazing job and I'll be recommending him to friends and family for any work that they need doing. 5 stars!
Had my Audi S3 in for a complete overhaul — Kaine supplied and fitted all the parts, including cam belt, water pump, a full service and a balance shaft delete. He also noticed one of my rear callipers was sticking, so recommended and fitted a new calliper and new rear discs and pads too. A 5 star service — I'll only use Kaine from now on for any mechanical work.
Exceptional experience with Kaine. Came out to me, took my car and fixed it all within two hours. Very impressed and will definitely call him if needed again. Great price.
Fast mobile installation
Send us the registration. We confirm exactly what fits your vehicle and what it costs fitted, before you commit to anything.
We call to arrange a time and place that suits you — at home, or at work while the car sits in the car park.
Your installer arrives fully equipped and works at the vehicle. Most fits take two to four hours, with nothing cut, drilled or left on show.
We set it up with you and stay until you can use it confidently. Your manufacturer warranty is unaffected and it can be removed later without a trace.
Everything we fit, on one car, in one visit. Prevention, monitored recovery, deadlock and 4K evidence. Fitted in one visit, which is where the saving comes from — the hardware is the same either way.

Questions
It goes a long way towards it, and further than most people expect: no tag means no start, every time the engine goes off. Where a dedicated immobiliser still adds something is if the tags are taken with the car — a Ghost sequence lives in your head, and nothing in the vehicle can hand it over. Plenty of our customers run both, and if you are choosing one first, this is the one that covers the most ground.
No. It prevents a start; it does not cut a running engine. Even a remote block sent while the car is moving waits until the vehicle has stopped of its own accord before it does anything.
Jamming is itself an alert. The unit tells the control room when GPS or GSM is being blocked, along with tamper and battery disconnection, so the attempt to hide the car is the thing that raises the alarm.
Yes. The hardware is transferable — there is a labour charge to move and recommission it, and the subscription follows you rather than the vehicle. Ring us before you sell and we will sort the timing out.
No. It connects to the car's existing network — nothing is cut, drilled or spliced — and it can be removed later with no trace. Manufacturers and insurers expect to see exactly this kind of installation.
Yes. We fit at your home or workplace anywhere around Milton Keynes, so you keep the car and lose nothing more than a couple of hours.
